My Story
When I lived in the U.S.(and even on my regular visits) my favorate food has always been TEX-MEX or a mix of Mexican and Southwestern
food. You could always wake me up, morning or night, for a happy-filled burrito or a mexican pizza, and you can still do.
So what is the difference between the three?..
The term TEX-MEX is a popular spread of combined mexican and Texas cooking styles. You could also say that TEX-MEX is
the simple eat-it-with-your-fingers version of mexican cuisine! Southwestern food is more a mix of tex-mex and traditional
american food, such as jalapenos mashed potatoes or burgers with peppers and all kind of mexican sidedishes.
The cuisine of sophisticated, but somewhat baroque interior Mexico has never caught on (not even in Europe). But the crispy
tacos, nachos, and margaritas became famous everywhere!
I love the modern cooking style of the borderland, hearty and casual food with a flavour that is anything but subtle.
You still eat it with your fingers, its spicy as hell, and still goes great with ice cold-beer!
I am residing in the Netherlands right now, and I can tell you that I am not a Happy Camper! What a DRAMA...
